As of the end of March 2022, the total number of 5G base stations in China reached 1.559 million, accounting for 15.5% of the total number of mobile base stations, an increase of 1.2 percentage points compared with the end of the previous year. Among them, 134,000 new 5G base stations were built in the first quarter.

Forecast on 5G market size

According to the “2022 China Mobile Economic Development” report, China’s 5G market continues to develop. In 2021, China’s new 5G connections exceeded 285 million, and the total number of 5G connections accounted for 75% of the global 5G connections. The total number of 5G connections in China is expected to increase from 488 million in 2021 to 892 million by 2025, and more than half of mobile connections will use 5G.
