What you need to know about PCBA production
The circuit boards are created through different process and designing is one of essential process for the manufacturing and rapid PCBA production.
What are differences between the PCB and PCBA?
The differences are:
PCB
-They are board manufactured in order to add components and assemble
-Soldering isn’t done
– Glass fabric coated with the resin then is dried to apply
-Made for specific devices
-NO electronic components added
-It is empty surfaced board
-Made ready for assembly yet cant be deployed
-Time required is more for PCB design and production
-It is board development phenomenon
-Aren’t yet ready to be used in electronic devices
PCBA
-It is assembly of electronic devices in the board
-Made after printing of solder paste on surface
-Soldering is done for components fixing
-Electronic components are added and mounted
-Heavier board with much components and can be deployed
-PCBA production are perfectly done to use in electronic devices
-soldermask and silkscreen are used during
-Surface mount & throughole technology are generally applied in assembly or PCBA production
PCB
(i)It is a single emptied surface board.
(ii)They are made before and assembly is done later.
iii)It is a material but not a process.
(iv)Soldering is done
(v)Components aren’t added
PCBA
(i)It contains assembled components fixed on it.
(ii)It is done with help of PCB.
(iii)It is a process done using the PCB.
(iv)No soldering is done
Addition of components is the key process in assembly
What is PCBA used for?
-Assembling components (soldering onto a blank surface of board)
-Making a permanent circuit board
-Boosting circuits design and giving it a permanent placement
-Making large electrical and electronic devices
-Reducing size and cost of components needed
-Reducing the size and materials for developing appliances, electronic devices.
What is PCBA designing?
PCBA designing is the process of integrating all the components in a board through SMT technology or through hole technology. Components are mounted as per the design of board and clients or devices requirement.
PCBA production goes through different processes and design is most essential process as it is the main idea or layout which is applied by assembling different components or mounting them on the board.
Designing is done in such a way that the inspection and final test gives quality accreditation in the PCBA production phenomenon.
PCBA design stands for printed circuit board assembly design that gives the sense that the assembled board and components needing for design that is done by designers hired in the manufacturing companies.
They create a layout and structure for adding components. Different marking should be made and holes should be made in order to attach components there and the colored lines made usually are essential for circuit design .
Detailed production procedure of PCBA
The PCBA production involves processes from PCB design to assembly as:
-First design is made and then printed according to need
-Outer layer can be etched for quality
-Layers are laminated
-Process of optical imaging is common nowadays
-Copper deposition with continuous layering is done
-Then plating is done
-Solder marks are applied
-Then, final testing or inspection is done
Now PCB is assembled with components
-The components testing is done
-They are checked for conductivity, frequency
-Accurate reading are taken
-They are added to the printed board where Thru hole placement is done
-Sometimes wave soldering is also is needed and if not hand soldering is done carefully
-First the circuit is designed and then the different layers requires to be printed there.
– Layer should be aligned properly and punched accordingly as needed
-SMT adhesives are added
-Then final inspection is done
In a nutshell assembly can be illustrated as:
The processes of PCBA production testing
PCBA production test:
Manufacturing industries hire different quality assurance and testing experts and engineers to test the production for its proper functioning and accuracy and then they go under rapid production.
Different devices need different types of circuit boards and they are designed accordingly by designers technicians.
What is SMT in PCBA?
SMT stands for Surface Mount Technology is a phenomenon in the assembly of boards in which the components are mounted directly on the board’s surface. The electronic components which are mounted using SMT techniques are called as Surface Mount Device(SMD).
The purpose of SMT is to improve quality thereby decreasing cost too. It allows increased manufacturing automation and isn’t time consuming too. Through-hole technology is not appropriate for large components like transformers.
Thus, SMT process can help in larger adjustments of components in smaller surface area therefore is highly recommended in PCBA production.
How PCBA price calulcated?
Calculation of PCBA price:
No actual formula is used to calculate its price although.
Estimation can be made by calculating the components used and according to boards dimension its price can be estimated.
In general the cost of PCBA is calculated with rough estimation though standard formula can be:
[(area of board * no. of layers/2) * (Next multipliers) + setting amount+ components cost +labour cost]
can be said as the standard for calculating though all manufacturers use estimation for board and then add the components used and human labour’s cost.
Larger area requiring boards cost higher amount with higher components used thus can be more expensive and smaller boards can be cheaper and thus, PCBA production is usually done by applying cost reduction efforts.
