Through-hole PCB ICs are often utilised in industrial applications because they are bigger and more resilient. Additionally, there are PCB ICs such as pin grid array (PGA) and ball grid array (BGA). A surface-mount IC known as a BGA connects to the PCB via solder balls. Through-hole ICs with PGAs employ pins to attach the IC to the PCB.

How to solder an IC chip on PCB?The process of soldering PCB IC chip is same as soldering any other type of component on PCB. First, the component is placed on the PCB and then solder is applied to the pads or terminals on the component. The component is then heated until the solder melts and forms a connection between the component and the PCB. However, soldering at an industrial scale typically involves using a pick and place machine to place the chips onto the surface of the board. Once the chips are in place, a reflow oven is used to solder the chips to the board.
